Clinical Neuropathology teaching case 4-2015: Heterogenous brain pathologies temporally and spatially coinciding in limbic regions

چکیده
Co-occurrence of neurodegenerative proteinopathies is increasingly recognized to be a frequent event in the brains of symptomatic and asymptomatic elderly individuals [1]. Prion diseases are rapidly progressive neurodegenerative conditions, which may pose differential diagnostic challenges. Co-occurence of diverse pathologies in prion disease is rarely reported, although occasionally unusual combinations may be detected [2]. We present here a case in which hetereogenous brain pathologies temporally and spatially coincided in medial temporal regions.

متن کاملLocally Estimated Hemodynamic Response Function and Activation Detection Sensitivity in Heroin-Cue Reactivity Study
Introduction: A fixed hemodynamic response function (HRF) is commonly used for functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) analysis. However, HRF may vary from region to region and subject to subject. We investigated the effect of locally estimated HRF (in functionally homogenous parcels) on activation detection sensitivity in a heroin cue reactivity study. Methods: We proposed...
متن کاملSolute Transport for Pulse Type Input Point Source along Temporally and Spatially Dependent Flow
In the present study, analytical solutions are obtained for two-dimensional advection dispersion equation for conservative solute transport in a semi-infinite heterogeneous porous medium with pulse type input point source of uniform nature. The change in dispersion parameter due to heterogeneity is considered as linear multiple of spatially dependent function and seepage velocity whereas seepag...

متن کاملO7: Functional Characterization of Human GABAA Autoantibodies in the Context of Limbic Encephalitis
Limbic encephalitis is an adaptive autoimmune disease, induced by different autoantibodies, which target extracellular neuronal epitopes, such as NMDA or GABAB receptors1,2. Recently our group found another human antibody, which binds to the α1 subunit of the GABAA receptor. Since the GABAA receptor is responsible for the majority of fast inhibitory neurotransmission, we investigated chan...
